Jesus goes 'head hunting' (Luke 5:1-11)
One day Jesus was down by the water's edge at Lake Gennesaret, with heaps of people crowding round, listening to his message from God. On the shore were a couple of skiffs belonging to the fishermen. Jesus got into the one belonging to Simon, and told him to row out just a little. And then he talked to the mob on the shore from his seat in the back of the boat.

When he'd finished, he turned to Simon and said, 'Pull out into the deeper water and drop your nets.'

'Fair go!' complained Simon. 'We've fished all night and haven't even caught a tiddler. But, okay, if you reckon'well, we'll do it.'

This time when they tried to yank the nets back into the boat they almost tore, they were so full. Simon yelled out to his mates to come out in their boat and give him a hand. Soon both boats were so full of fish, and so low in the water, that a good wave might have sunk them.

This shook Simon up no end. He looked up at Jesus and said, 'You oughta clear off. I'm not a good bloke.' Simon and all his mates were almost speechless at the size of the catch'and so were his partners in the fishing business, Jim and John Zebedee.

'Don't panic,' said Jesus. 'Calm down. From now on you'll be catching blokes, not fish.'

So they rowed to the shore, left the fishing tackle where it was, and followed Jesus.
